This Portland, Oregon home was renovated with a modern and cozy open kitchen design. The previous kitchen had a peninsula with bar seating and a small dining area that just didn’t work. The concept of this design was to eliminate the dining area and enlarge the kitchen and living areas by incorporating spacious island dining. The design better utilizes and visually enhances the space making it feel larger and more integrated.
Noteworthy features include grey-green kitchen cabinets and bright white quartz countertops and backsplash. The warmth of the ambient lighting and cabinet color contrasted with the large white quartz island create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The island boasts spacious dining for four perfect for everyday dining or entertaining. Special features such as the glass panel fridge, recessed led under cabinet lighting, cabinetry to the ceiling, and range hood cabinetry elevate the style!

Modern & Cozy IKEA Kitchen Remodel
This Portland, Oregon kitchen underwent an impressive re-design and remodel. The kitchen renovation meticulously balanced functionality and comfort integrating the homeowners modern and cozy style.
Kitchen Design Features
Extended Cabinet Design: Thoughtful consideration of the open floor plan and living area resulted in a slightly extended cabinet layout to accommodate a tall pantry cabinet and a larger island.
Spacious Island Dining: The extended cabinetry came at the expense of what was formerly the peninsula and dining room. The additional kitchen space was used to create a custom island dining area. Fondly known as “the big island” it includes double sided cabinetry for extra storage and a desk cabinet with lots of drawers for easy access. Two sides boast and extra-deep 15″ overhang to accommodate lots of diners and comfortable seating.
Custom Floating Shelves: Custom floating shelves in bamboo top off the quartz backsplash adding a touch of warmth and providing display or storage space. The bamboo color perfectly compliments the flooring and light fixtures.
Quartz Countertops and Island: Luxurious white quartz countertops and backsplash, with a distinctive grey and gold veining, brightening the space in contrast to the grey-green cabinetry. The backsplash extends up to the bottom of the built-in cabinetry range hood creating a beautiful and bright cooking area.
Recessed Under Cabinet Lighting: LED under cabinet lighting channels were recessed into the bottom panels to create a seamless look.
High-End Stainless Steel Appliances: The kitchen boasts top-tier stainless steel appliances for high performance with a sleek and modern aesthetic.
Glass Panel Fridge: The clients selected a white glass panel fridge to compliment the white quartz.
